Teens Who Play Strings—
Get serious about fun this summer at the Summer Strings Academy!
Summer program partners students with the Long Island Philharmonic

Talented teens from Nassau and Suffolk counties will have a unique opportunity this summer to perform with the Long Island Philharmonic, as part of a partnership between Nassau BOCES and the Philharmonic.

Students who play the viola, violin, cello or the string bass are invited to attend the Summer Strings Academy during the week of Aug. 17–21. The series of master classes, to be held at the Nassau BOCES Long Island High School for the Arts (LIHSA) in Syosset, will conclude with a special evening concert conducted by Music Director David Wiley.

Part of an ongoing partnership between Nassau BOCES and the Long Island Philharmonic, the Summer Strings Academy was designed to prepare high school orchestral musicians for the new school year.

Nassau and Suffolk students entering grades 8–12 in September who are interested in the Summer Strings Academy should e-mail artsined@mail.nasboces.org or call 516-396-2345 for more information. Visit http://www.nassauboces.org

Each full-day session is led by Long Island Philharmonic Music Director David Stewart Wiley with other professional musicians from the Philharmonic serving as coaches and mentors.
